Mission

To conduct research & development of sustainable oleochemical derivatives and its products with special reference to polymer, composite and specialty chemicals through value addition strategy for oleochemical downstream industry.

  1. To conduct research & development activities for the innovation of high performance and sustainable oleochemical derivatives and its products driven by excellent science and technology.
  2.  To embrace circular economy for the sustainable development of market-based renewable products via interdisciplinary approaches.

Strategic Research Areas

  1. Innovation and creation of wide variety of novel bio-based polyols for polyurethane formulations.
  2. Development of high-performance polymer and composite products for consumer and industrial markets.
  3. Innovation and creation of oleo-based specialty chemicals i.e. surfactant, estolide derivatives and glycerol derivatives.
  4. Establishment of scalable and sustainable process for the production of fine chemicals.
  5. Conceptualization of circular economy innovation to minimize waste and maximize value of products developed through recirculation of palm oil and palm-based products.

Polymer and Composite Group

Objectives

 1. To develop versatile and economical method for conversion of palm oil, basic oleochemicals and its derivatives into various classes of novel bio-based polyols.

2. To utilize the developed novel bio-based polyols into wide range of polymer and composite applications.
